Plano Police Department Hits Fifty Year Service Mark to Community

Fifty years of service to our community was celebrated by the Plano Police Department via a public Open House event held Saturday, August 9, 2008. From tours of the operational areas of the Police facility, normally closed to the public, to getting up close and personal with the department's bomb robots and Mobile Command Center, the Open House provided Plano residents and visitors with a stunning view of the services and programming provided them... NEWS BRIEF

A swift water rescue boat, special smoke alarms for the deaf and specialized reflective safety vests for personnel are part of the planned purchases from a $23,000 grant awarded the Plano Fire Department by Fireman’s Fund Insurance.  At a ceremony held at Plano Fire Administration Tuesday, August 12, the Fireman’s Fund and CRC Insurance Services presented the Department with a Fireman’s Fund Heritage Program Grant.  Over $50,000 in grants has been provided the department by Fireman’s Fund, with past grants targeting Fire safety education equipment and AEDs and Fire safety educational materials.  The Heritage grant program annually funds firefighting equipment, life-saving training and critical programs to fire departments of all sizes across the country.
